How Skyhills Dental is different from what you are used to:
1. A dental check up at Skyhills Dental can be at a 6, 9 or 12 month interval.
It can include a dental cleaning OR you may choose to continue seeing your
hygienist for your dental cleanings and other oral care they provide. We will work
collaboratively with our local hygiene providers to curate treatment needs
according to what suits the patients best.
2. There is only one provider at the clinic: Dr Zacal
Dr Zacal provides preventive (cleaning, customized preventive instructions),
restorative (fillings) and more comprehensive crown and bridge and implant
restoration and tooth replacement options. She overseen every part of the
treatment so that comprehensive care can be provided in addition to emergency
care, as needed.
3. Snore appliances, Dental Sleep Medicine and TMJ dysfunction.
Dr Zacal is able to provide Oral Appliance Therapy for sleep apnea or Snore
Appliances even if she is not your regular dentist. Your regular dentist will
continue to see you for your dental treatment and you can see us for specific
Dental Sleep Medicine needs only. Dr Zacal can assess TMJ issues and if
needed, works with local physiotherapists versed in TMJ manipulation (also
located in Parry Sound).
4. Patient services in-person or online.
We know that reaching a person on the phone during the day is very important to
you. It is our primary task to answer each call personally, as this is how we have
always operated in the past. After hours it is still important to have access to
peace of mind booking: patients are invited to schedule their own appointment
with our online scheduling program. Access to our questionnaires and forms is
available any time on our website for self service either by printing a physical
copy of completing the questionnaire securely online.
5. A different kind of dental experience: keeping the same practice
philosophies
The practice philosophies that were developed over the past 25 years remain the same:
 Dr Zacal is the dentist and the complete treatment coordinator.
o All treatments (including xrays) and options are recommended after a
thorough clinical examination and complete health history has been
reviewed by Dr Zacal.
o This will allow for the most personalized care and optimal predictability/
function of the treatment.

 Following the ALARA radiation principle (as low as reasonably achievable)

o Requesting previous xrays from other dental offices
o Prescribing xrays only after a full assessment has been made to
customize the radiographic examination needs for each specific situation
 Keeping the environmental impact in mind when creating the office space and
choosing products.
 Time spent on patient education for greater engagement, understanding and
informed consent
 Community involvement: giving back with sponsoring and volunteering at events
such as the Muskoka 70.3 Ironman (10 years), Huntsville Highschool graduation
